I’ll be going in mid March to Ho Chi Minh City .Will be there alone for 10 days only and planning to stay in Ho Chi Minh City because I am getting dental problems fixed . Also because it’s my first time…Any good recommendations how to explore the city and the near by neighborhood?I watched some of the videos of Anthony Bourdain pinging out , enjoying the Vietnamese food . I noticed all the dishes he reviewed was with meat!I am vegetarian but I don’t mind eating fish. ( no shellfish )I wonder if the markets, street food he explored offers any . Or only in restaurants…?

The city is very easy to walk around. The Post Office, the Cathedral, the Opera House , Ben Than market , the War Museum are all in easy reach in District 1. Just wander and enjoy, you’ll have a amazing time. There are plenty of places to eat all sorts of food, I don’t think you’ll have a problem.
Meet?
Definitely look up the Happycow app you’ll find all the food places you need that are vegan/vegetarian. I highly recommend this place Banh Mi Xanh – Vegan Banh Mi. I literally loved it so much that I ate it everyday. I recommend the special the big size Banh Mi trust me you’ll go through it it’s incredible! I don’t think I’ve ever come across one this good! I truly miss it 😢 I recommend exploring all of Vietnam through sleeper buses. FYI Saigon was my least favorite out of all the cities I explored.
I am in my eighties, live in Dorset but my two sons live abroad in Thailand and Vietnam.I have visited them both and had amazing experiences.
I booked a food tour with http://www.streetfoodman.com
The food was good but I like north Vietnam food better. You can find north food there.
Just use the grab app and punch in vegetarian. It cones right to your door for $1 delivery. Better than fighting traffic in ho chi minh
I’d call the food meatless, rather than vegetarian or vegan. There’s usually fish sauce or oyster sauce or some kind of animal products and extracts in there. It’s very difficult to avoid them. There can be at least 50 ingredients in a dish and they are a challenge to switch out. If you know how to cook, you’d see. The utensils and cookwares could have been used for other dishes too. I hope you aren’t as restrictive or particular about that.
Janos Csonka Vietnamese vegetarian food is off the chart. You have to ask if it’s Buddhist(absolutely no meat product at all) vegetarian or regular(might have meat product in the sauces).
Hi Janos 👋
