I’d love to visit the Cu Chi tunnels (combined with Mekong Delta) but I’m claustrophobic. What’s the shortest distance you can go in the tunnels? Would you recommend it?Can you just go in and straight back up again or do hou have to wait for a long time for the other people from the tour?Thank you for your advise 🤗

I would recommend going to the Black Virgin Mountain, 3 hrs from Ho Chi Minh City. You will remember this the longest. Just simply amazing.
The part that wasn’t fun was getting there. It took us 31/2 hours each way. Not worth it.
The first bit is only about 20m and reasonably wide. You can time it so noone in front so you can take it at your own pace…
You don’t have to go down the tunnel at all! My husband did but there’s no pressure to do so. I stayed above ground. It’s only a small part of the tour.
I am not claustrophobic but found it tough as was very hot in there.
Here’s a pic of what it looks like coming out of a tunnel into small room, so you can get a sense of size.
Just a question, I am arachnophobic… I have seen the tarantulas in Cambodia. Do the tunnels have spiders in them?
This gives you an idea of what the 20m section is like
I’m claustrophobic and did the 20m. I have to be honest, took me ages to calm down after. Heart racing etc. But, I am glad I did it !
I’m claustrophobic to the extent I can’t even have an MRI. Just looking at pictures of these tunnels make me hyperventilate! There’s no way you’d get me down those tunnels one inch. Respect to those Vietnamese who didn’t have the luxury of claustrophobia during the war. Don’t put yourself through it if you don’t want to. To be honest I would imagine they would advise against it if you have a health condition.
