It was probably a scam but we donated only 200,000 dong he wanted more don’t know if it’s a scam or not, but it wasn’t much money. Has anybody heard of this before

Be careful handing your phone to someone. Thieves can quickly search photos for images of passports, credit cards and more and send these to themselves. It can be done in under a minute

Yeah, probably a scam, targeting Tay again.

Yes sorry. Most definitely a scam. I live 1/2 of each year in Vietnam and think it’s a genuinely safe and wonderful place but there are scams like this and while I haven’t succumbed I’ve been witness to them. In Ho Chi Minh’s state museum I was approached by their “education specialist” and surveyed about the museum. At the end that same notebook came out and this man’s pitch was that his philanthropic mission was “supplying blind people with toothpicks they can sell to tourists”. I did not contribute.

Best not to donate anything. If you’re concerned about a cause, look it up on the Internet and donate that way. There are multiple scammers, working the big Buddha, the old temple complex, basically everywhere.

It’s a scam, we were approached in Hanoi and he was only approaching tourists.
