We used Revolut 85% of time, and cash remainder … all worked well
Vietnam is a cash based country. You will definitely need cash!
I’m here now. Been here 11 days solo. I brought USD and credit cards. I’ve used 2.6 million dong (100usd) and I’ve used the grab app A LOT for food delivery which has my credit card attached. Vietnam is very very inexpensive. Also I have found a lot of places don’t give you napkins lol maybe bring some in your bag. I brought $6000usd and used $5000 for surgery. I had no problem bring in cash and I’ve not spent very much!! Have fun! I love Vietnam ❤️
Cash is preferred. But some shops and hotels will take card. They will charge you an additional fee for processing though
I was there last year cash is best
Vietnam is still a cash society especially once you leave the cities.
We used Monzo and Revolut, hardly any cash, took £200 worth for small places, everywhere takes cards
Bring a debit or Wise card to get cash out of ATMs, but make sure you bring a back up! We were scammed in our first week, with another 5 to go, and our debit card was stopped by the bank. We had a back up credit card (which were no good because hardly anywhere accepts them) but not debit card so we were stuck! We managed to get money via Western Union, but it was a lesson learnt and very stressful!
You can bring cash from wherever you are and exchange money there. They prefer newer bills.
I’m a 20 year veteran of consulting assignments all over VN, and I use my Australian Visa card for everything, including withdraws from ATMs.
