Wrong Port of Entry for Vietnam e-Visa

Hi All–

I am headed to Vietnam tomorrow from Phnom Phen and just got my e-visa. I realized that I put Hanoi as my Port of entry, failing to realize my plane had a stopover in HCMC. Anybody know if this will be an issue. I found a handful of posts saying they had no issues with a different entry point, but all from pre-pandemic times. I know lots of immigration / tourism stuff has gotten stricter so I wanted to see if anybody ran into this issue more recently, say in the last year or so.

    What issue?

Most, perhaps all the information in this post is out of date.

    The thread should be closed.

No, many reports on the forum of people leaving leaving from a different port to the one they specified.

But you’re right, entry port is important.

Sad to read, that there is so much fuss over such a petty thing like port of entry.

My question is similar, yet different. We’re already in Vietnam, our port of departure says Da Nang, but we are thinking of flying from HCM instead.

Anyone with an experience on leaving Vietnam from other airport than stated in eVisa recently?

I don’t think it should be a problem, after all, we are leaving the country which is what they ‘want’, but I’d appreciate the 1st hand experience!

    Who knows?

If they do allow you to board, you may still have an issue on arrival.

Good luck with it all, and please come back to let us know how you get on.

the embassy issued my visa with the wrong dates, so when I arrived for my flight I was denied boarding. Fast forward, we missed HMC and had our flights changed to go directly to Phu Quoc. My new visa will be correct, however my husbands – that they did not make a mistake on – still says HMC. Too late to change. We’ve been to hell and back over these visas. I blame myself for not looking more clearly at my original visa. I think the auto fill put in the current date when I went back to change something else and I did not notice. Don’t make the same costly mistake. We are just gonna hope for the best for our flight tonight. Any thought on how picky they will be, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all , at the end I was able to enter with no issues, but I don’t know if I got lucky, so I think is better to choose the correct port of entry, next time I will be more carefully to pick the airport and not the seaport,

    Get yourself a ‘correct’ e-visa.

It will / could save you heaps of money and angst.

Have they let you enter the country through the airport instead of the seaport? I made the same mistake.
