I am headed to Vietnam tomorrow from Phnom Phen and just got my e-visa. I realized that I put Hanoi as my Port of entry, failing to realize my plane had a stopover in HCMC. Anybody know if this will be an issue. I found a handful of posts saying they had no issues with a different entry point, but all from pre-pandemic times. I know lots of immigration / tourism stuff has gotten stricter so I wanted to see if anybody ran into this issue more recently, say in the last year or so.

Doesn’t matter what anyone else did.
You have two issues:
1) Will your airline allow you to board the plane when your E-Visa is not for SGN airport? Only they can answer that.
2) Assuming they will, will Immigration make it difficult/expensive/impossible for you to enter the country?
You need to get an answer to 1) from your airline, 2) is up to the immigration officer on the day.
I’d just get a new E-Visa taking a little more care this time. If you don’t have time to get a new one, all you can do is give it a go and smile/plead ignorance.
At the end what did you did? I have the same issue, I put the seaport instead of the airport of Ho Chi Minh ?

we have applied an e-visa for vietnam its got approved. but instead for choosing ho chi minh city airport we have choosen the entry point as ho chi minh city seaport,visa also approved for entry point through seaport,whether we can travel with this same visa or we have to apply for new visa again.please help me in this issue asap.

Anecdotal evidence isn’t the best when you’re arguing with a checkin agent that they should allow you to fly to Hanoi when your E-Visa clearly states Saigon or wherever. I’d stick as close to the rules as possible these days.

The Immigration system copes fine with the wrong port – it’s all online – but there’s still the risk that the officer on the day might be picky or see it as an opportunity. Worst case is probably paying extra to smooth the way, rather than being denied entry.
A bigger risk is being denied boarding because there’s a mismatch between what the E-Visa says and where you’re flying to. Airlines get fined (average of $3000 these days) for every passenger they fly in whose passport/visa aren’t sufficient for entry, so they don’t take chances.
I came back into Hanoi with HCMC on my visa without issue, BUT it was after waiting 1.5 hours in the lines of the Immigration hall. I think he was happy to see the back o me and the other million of us there.
That being said another guy from Melbourne had to buy a “new” visa with the correct port of entry ($30 fee).
I don’t think they will refuse you , but it may cost you and make sure you have everything else printed out and easily accessible
