Aus notes are fine. You don’t need crisp notes, that’s USD. Get them changed at the gold shop just outside Ben Thanh markets. I literally just got home from Hoi chi min.

Why why why. New laws mean legit CX shops are hard to find. Such a hassle. Just bring your ATM card and withdraw VND anywhere. ATMs are plentiful and safe. Don’t listen to people whinging about bank fees. Couple of dollars is well worth the peace of mind of not having to carry your uninsured cash everywhere hoping to find a CX shop that won’t rip you off.

I use cards most of the time. If i need cash for small things i use an ATM.

100 and 50’s have higher exchange rate compared to smaller notes.

Cash is okay but also see if you can use your card. Removes the risk of cash. Some banks have a limited number of transactions. ATMs here have a max withdrawal of 5 million.
