Hi All,
We are travelling to Vietnam soon, and facing a bit of a problem with regards the Terminal change in HCMC
We fly in from Delhi on VN, and reach HCMC Terminal 2 at 0550
Then we have a connecting flight on VN to Phu Quoc from Terminal 3 at 0810 (a gap of 2 hrs 20 mins)
I booked the flight to Phu Quoc and this connection was provided by VN directly on their site.
I also believe that we will have to first go through immigration, then collect our baggage in HCMC and then check in again for Phu Quoc from a different terminal
Is this something that can be done easily in 2 hrs 20 mins? I keep reading that the immigration in HCMC takes a lot of time.
Also, is it easy to get a cab between terminals?

I have just come across this thread and can report that we recently travelled direct flight from Brisbane to Saigon via Vietjet. Our flight was delayed by about half an hour, and we arrived at approximately 6am. Our next flight was booked for 8:10am via Vietnam Airlines to Phu Quok. In the past we had no problems with this tight timeframe because a) we had never had a flight delay and b) the domestic terminal for Vietnam Airlines was located just next door. However, this time was obviously a mad rush because we were not aware that we now needed to travel to T3. So finally, we get through immigration at 7:20am, then I bolt over next door to the domestic terminal to check in and alert them my husband was following with the check in luggage. This was around 7:25am (yes, I was moving at pace). I was then informed that the terminal location had changed. I was 100% certain there would be no possibility of making the flight however we bolted to the taxi stand out the front and the fellow madly drove us as quickly as he could to T3 which took around 10 mins going hell for leather. Now of course we were charged for the convenience (250k dong) however we would have been in huge strife had we missed that plane. We skidded right to the doorway around 7:40am and given the flight was planned for 8:10am we truly believed we had no chance but we went to the front of the counter and the staff efficiently just processed us and off we we went. For other people’s information, there is a free shuttle bus between the terminals but our friends later informed us (whom had arrived earlier in the week) that from waiting for the shuttle to arrival at T3 was approximately half an hour. Presumably it depends on the shuttle bus schedule how long you wait. Anyhow, lesson learnt and I hope this response assists others.

Hey. I am supposed to travel in December. But I believe you already would have by now. Could you please share how it worked out for you? thank you
Hello. I saw your post on my thread. I believe you took the same flight with the same connection in HCMC. Could you please share how the experience was with immigration with less time?
Many thanks
I have the same issue this coming December. I understand the bus takes 10 minutes with NO TRAFFIC but it comes every 20 minutes. You can’t walk. To be honest, the lines for terminal 3 domestic are never long; you should be ok. I
‘m doing the reverse and might just suck up to pay fast pass in terminal 2 and I have a 3 hour layover. Good luck!
Given how long terminal 3 has been operating, we haven’t had a huge influx of people complaining about the time or the connection between the terminal. It’s much like the link at Noi Bai (Hanoi). The bus runs between the two. Takes around 15mins.
Hi Amrit, please inform your experience as we are taking same flights next month.
Hey Amrit,
Finally, how was your experience? Any tips? I am taking the same route next week and wanted to be sure that I have enough time.
See post #3.
I’ve got 4.5 hours too, and I’m not the least bit worried.
Can someone suggest how much time does it take to reach Terminal 3 from Terminal 2. Would a layover of 4.5 hours be enough?
Can u tell your experience regarding changing terminal, we have same flight next month
