Looking for tips for a great hotel in Hanoi.

Looking for tips for a great hotel in Hanoi. I’ve been told that many on Booking.com are not like their ads, and having been scammed by 2 hotels in Egypt I’m a bit nervous. Hoping for genuine recommendations. I’d like to be near to old quarter, happy to walk up to about a mile. Just want it to be a lovely place to stay with things to do and quiet sleeping. A pool and a balcony would be a bonus but not a deal breaker! Mainly I want it to be friendly, not “service”y. I like real people, and Vietnamese food, not being treated like a posh person!

We’ve stayed at Con Con House in the Old Quarter and it’s awesome. No pool but I think there was a roof top space. We will stay there again when we next go back

Just returned from Hanoi and we stayed at the Acoustic Hotel & Spa. They have a premium side as well which we didn’t stay at (they are next to each other). Our hotel stay was great. The staff was stellar. If you want great I imagine the premium side would fit the bill.
