Yes it’s a known scam across the booking platform had it for a New Zealand hotel

I got one too for the first time recently. I’ve been using Booking for a very long time so I just ignored it. Plus my accommodation has already been paid for and confirmed, why would they need card details now!!
I had it yesterday. How are these people getting all our information??
How do the scammers have your WhatsApp number and right when you were booking?
I’ve just had it through Expedia – sent on what’s app and stupidly entered my credit card details – was in the airport and not thinking straight.

I received a whatsapp too and I booked with Agoda! Thank goodness I ignored it 😳
We had one booking that request is to transfer 50% deposit directly to their bank account. We cancelled the booking immediately.
