Hi All, I’m taking my parents (~75 yrs old) to Vietnam for their first time.

Hi All, I’m taking my parents (~75 yrs old) to Vietnam for their first time. I’ve been to Ho Chi Minh and Da Lat in the past and absolutely love vietnam. It’ll be a fairly short trip, HCM (2 nights) and focus on Hanoi (4 nights) and the area around there?Currently the plan is to do day trips from Hanoi to Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay, but what are peoples thoughts? Is it tiring? I could get away with switching one of the Hanoi nights.I don’t think they’d be able to climb up the stairs of Mua Cave in Ninh Binh and I wasn’t sure what it’s like around that area to stay a night. Happy to get thoughts! Thank you

Why go to HCMC? why not spend all days in Hanoi and nearby areas? Even if you’re flying between HCMC and Hanoi, given that elders are coming with you, it’s tiring. And you won’t be able to do or see much with just 2 days in HCMC. I hope you are considering also the possible flight cancellations or delays given there is a fuel shortage right now.

We are 65 years of age and pretty fit and we did a day trip to Ninh Binh while we really enjoyed it was a very long day and wished we stayed overnight. The Mia cave climb was a challenge as some steps deep and uneven and difficult to climb up and more so down but view from the top fantastic. We also did overnight cruise in Halong Bay which was more relaxing. Have a lovely time and make special memories with your family 🙂

Ha Long Bay, has a magnificent scenery of islands, but the great amounts garbage that locals tourists throw in the sea is deplorable and depressing.

I was in Ninh Bình last year at 76. I loved it there. The remarkable beauty of area touched my soul. You can make it as easy or as hard as you want. Take the boat and meander slowly on the river for a great excursion. I loved just being there.
