Hanoi Hotels

We will be coming to Hanoi for 2 nights in November. Can anyone recommend a hotel close to Hoan Kiem Lake where you don’t have to cross the street to get there? 3-4 star. Thanks.

Honestly don’t remember the chair situation – think we may have carried chairs out of the room to sit outside. If you do book there be aware that there are 3 types of rooms; the cheap ones in the middle have no external view, the rear ones have the small balcony and are mid priced(and recommended) and the expensive rooms at the front with the big balconies. All the rooms are large, have big comfortable beds and great bathrooms. We love the staff there who have gone out of their way for us over a number of visits and only stayed elsewhere when it was booked out or being renovated.

Hang Trong is more of a thoroughfare but it’s not a problem – you can cut through to the lake from there and even find a pedestrian crossing over the road on the western side.

A lot more traffic than the street that the Golden Legend is on, but no concerns getting around it, or crossing it. 😉

    Are you using Google maps?

Great for locating and searching. Can also do streetview to ‘walk’ the street and look up at buildings.

Their reviews are often more honest than booking sites if you ignore the hundreds of one time Vietnamese posters (all 1 or 5 stars!!!).

Steevwalk-I looked up the Minerva Premium Hotel. It does get good reviews. Do you know if they have chairs on the small balcony? What is the street like that it is on? Thanks.

I stayed in that hotel once – it was fine, about what you would expect for the money. The street is nice, lively with popular coffee and pho places but not much vehicle traffic. Our favourite hotel in that area is the Minerva Premium in Hang Trong street – closer to the lake but more expensive.
