Hello!
Tomorrow evening I will travel from Hanoi to Lao Cai by train. Arrival time is 6:25 am. Onwards for the same day I have a train ticket from Hekou North to Kunming (departure 1:28 pm).
I know that I will have to cross the border by foot. My question is, if there will be taxis or other type of transport from the railway station to the border and from the border to the Chinese railway station.
The distances should be quite short, but I don’t want to walk because of the weight of my luggage and of myself…
Does somebody have an idea about the prices?
Best regards, Matthias

Hi!
We are about to cross the border next week. We are taking a bus from Hanoi to Lao Cai in the morning and then planning to take a train from Hekou to Kunming in the evening (train leaving at 6PM). How long does it take overall to reach the Hekou train station starting from Lao Cai, with immigration included? I am wondering if arriving at 3PM in Lao Cai would be enough to make it to the train leaving at 6PM train.
Hi Michael, thank you for your valuable input.
There is an afternoon train from Hekou North railway station (5km away from the immigration centre) to Qujing with a transfer in between and will arrive in Qujing late at night. We found out from Trip.com that there are more high speed trains passing through Honghe railway station that can take us to Qujing arriving in Qujing in the mid to late afternoon. That is why we wanted a faster journey to Qujing.
I believe we should be able to get a taxi or private car outside Hekou immigration centre that is willing to take us to Honghe railway station.
Thank you.
