Arriving Hanoi Monday. How is the street food ? Apart from water and ice, do many people get food poisoning from the food ?

The street food is amazing. Good chance you will get sick but that’s just how it goes. On the bright side, you can get antibiotics without a prescription. Although a lot of “sickness” is just caused by the fact that you are eating something unfamiliar. Do not skip the street food, just realize it’s sort of an inevitable even in restaurants lol. Be smart about water of course.

I was in Hanoi last month, and I did two food tours because the tour guide will bring you to well known places that have been there for a long time. Plus you get to try 6-7 places in a day. I didn’t get sick at all.

Been twice, love hanoi…. food is amazing… always be aware of weather and food storage, like for example, bahn mi, i wouldnt eat one from a vendor on a street with pate sitting out all day in summer heat, no way no how…. i see meat being stored ontop of each other under the counter… no refrigeration in street vendors… i personally chose to eat restaurant foods mostly. Always drink from a straw, clean eating utensils.. carry sani and wipes.

Can I suggest you use the search function in the group and look up street food and then food poisoning?

Didn’t get any food poisoning at all. Eat where the locals eat and where it is busy and crowded

Advice to eat where locals eat is absurd since they already have antibodies in their guts from rancid foods and never get sick. Use common sense about refrigeration

lol if many people get food poisoning then there wouldn’t be many people here🤣 just use some common sense, eat where you see it’s busy and the food is moving fast. Don’t pick a stall where there’s no customers and where food has been sitting all day. The food here is fresh made the day of and meant to be eaten fresh. Pick a stall that has a lot of locals because if it’s gives people food poisoning then there would be no local people to come back to🤣
