We are in Hoi An currently, and a bit overwhelmed with the choice of tailors. I thought I would ask the hive mind that is this page! We want men and women suits, ball gowns, shirts, silk pyjamas etc. Any advice from people that have recently had things made?

I had two dresses made in silk brocade material for 200 Australian dollars each. Had them altered 3 times for fitting and shaping. I paid half upfront and half when finished. Most ask for complete payment upfront but it isn’t a great idea. Many say da nang is better for tailoring but I don’t have first hand experience. My son gets suits made at mr XE. Mine was GM tailor( GuMi)

We’ve had two suits made at Custom Tailory Hội An. Service was impeccable. We chose top quality material (merino wool) for 3-piece suit for my husband, cost was around 10-11 M VND. Add 1.3M for each custom made shirt. And 1.8M for custom made linen pants.

Future, Tina, bebe, blue chic, sisters.. lots of similar recommendations. How to decide which is the best but cheaper option 🤔

Kimmy tailors is excellent for high quality and superior craftsmanship. They are not the cheapest price but they will usually bargain a little bit. I had a full length cashmere wool lined wrap coat made and they did an excellent job. If you want quality and good selection of quality fabrics I would go here.

I had a sleeveless lined 100% linen dress just past knees made at shine last year paid around 2M I think… linen you get very different qualities here even though it may be advertised as 100% linen. Shine does a good job you pay a little more. Kimmy tailor is excellent- also a bit more expensive but quality fabrics and excellent tailoring . I just had some silk/satin blouses made a few Weeks ago elsewhere. ( don’t remember the name and even though they fixed it I had to go back 3 or 4x as measurements were way off. Lady was pushy so won’t recommend or mention) Paid 1M for long sleeve and 800k for sleeveless. I liked the color and fabric on the bolt but to be honest it doesn’t feel like silk/satin. Feels like an acrylic so not 100% pleased with those. Wish I’d paid a bit more elsewhere to make sure I got the silk I wanted but they are still nice pieces. Pay a bit more to get the lasting fabric and stitching.
