Vietnam tipping advice pleaseHi, I just received my itinerary and noticed that it says 10AUD tip per day for guide and driver (never saw anything about compulsory tips before itinerary arrived). It says the guide will collect it on the second day. I’m doing a 10 day highlight of Vietnam tour but my first day is nothing but flight then transfer to hotel. Do I pay 2 x 10AUD per day (200 total) or 2 x 10AUD per day (but for only 9 days so 180 total) or is it 10AUD total per day (so 5 for guide and 5 for driver)? This is my first ever arranged tour so want to do the right thing. Oh and, do I actually pay them in AUD or Dong?

We are on. TAD tour end of March. We plan to pay in $AUS. Not inclined to pay for free days or transfer to airport days.
No tipping it’s not the USA
Trip a deal also states this too. I understood $5 au to both diver and tour guide .
Personally , I would not go ahead. This might just be the first catch of many to come. Some try to take advantage BUT you also get really genuine agencies that would be transparent, I’ve been chased down by a Vietnamese lady to return a tip before so everyone is different and I’ve never experienced an added tip to any of my itineraries x
It’s a Trip A Deal arrangement with the guides & is on all Vietnam Tours if you’re doing a TAD tour. We just paid in Aussie dollars. We had 3 different guides & drivers, and we just paid each lot on the final day we were with them. All of them were excellent, and well worth the $10 a day.
You should be asking the tour company these questions. No way anyone here has the answers.
No you don’t have to if they throw out an fantasticccc service then you can tip them ortherwise just ” WHY”
Yeah no it’s xao. Sounds like they’re doing you in unfortunately. It has been more common these days, but it’s not a must. Been here since 2011 and I have noticed more and more over the years you see tipping boxes in places and even in tourist buses. But if they suc.k then don’t tip. It’s not a given here, like say the states. But as an Aussie I only tip more the younger kids that usually get terrible pay, coffee shops so on, most are students on 4 to 10 million Dong a month at most. So I definitely tip but by choice.
I as a travel agent, always send tour packages saying TIPS are included, and I have already added tips in the tour cost. Thats so easy.
Crazy, sounds like an extra service charge not a tip. Tips aren’t usually mandatory, a specific amount OR PAID BEFORE THE SERVICE, are they???
