Hello, I did try searching this but the replies are a bit historic so I’m after a more recent answer.
I’m off on a solo trip to Vietnam next month for 7 weeks (HCMC, Nha Trang, Da Nang & Hanoi) and not sure how much cash to carry. All the flights, transfers & accommodation are already paid for so its just money for tours, food etc.
I imagine most places will be cash but is there relatively easy access to cashpoints? If so do they charge a fortune or are they just a few quid per transaction? Should I take a small amount of GBP and change to VND out there or joy do it before I leave?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

“I’ll take a bit of local currency,…..”
Glad you got some help, but please, don’t get / take VND from home.
It really isn’t necessary, and you’ll feel much better by not being ripped a new one.
Just change a bit at the airport in Vietnam.
The rate is actually alright, and far better than you’ll get at home.

Thank you all for your replies. I’ll take a bit of local currency, another few hundred in sterling and then rely on my Currensea and Revolute cards.
Wise card for what? Wise have high fees if you withdraw over a small amount per month, £200?
Or use a Wise card?
