Seeking Destinations for 6 Days of Diving/Coastal Nature After Vietnam in December.

Hello all,

Please forgive this somewhat broad inquiry, but I’m truly at the initial stages of organizing this vacation and require some guidance to kick things off! I’ve chosen Vietnam as my primary destination (I’ve toured Southeast Asia numerous times, yet Vietnam remains unexplored territory).

I anticipate spending about 10 days there. I understand that December presents some climatic challenges, though based on my research, a well-planned itinerary should make it feasible.

Following my time in Vietnam, I have an additional 6 days before my flight back to Italy (Dec 26 – Jan 11) which I would love to dedicate to a seaside location: I’m looking for outstanding dive sites, pristine beaches, a rustic ambiance, preserved natural settings, delicious cuisine, strong local culture, and minimal commercialization.

For background, I’ve previously visited Redang, the Perhentians, Koh Rong Samloem, and years ago, Phi Phi and Phuket (back when they still retained a wilder, less developed feel). I was considering a return to Thailand (the Andaman Coast) for this trip—but ideally to a spot that is quieter and offers a more authentic experience.

All recommendations would be sincerely welcomed!

What places in Vietnam do you plan to visit?

Phu Quoc island in South of Vietnam will have nice weather at that time of year.

    Hello

In Vietnam Con Dao is probably the most unspoilt option you’ll find with good diving and less developed for tourism. The best guide to Con Dao is on Vietnam Coracle. Google ‘Vietnam Coracle Con Dao’ and see if that sounds like what you are looking for.

From our experiences, Thailand (Andaman Sea) has horrible scuba diving. The seas are over fished and shallow.

If you are in Vietnam and want scuba diving, don’t fiddle around in December, go to the Philippines, or Indonesia.

Of course you’ll have the 24 hour rule after diving.

Phu Quoc will have the best December weather, Nha Trang is Vietnam’s dive hub, but in Con Dao the diving will probably be better in December.
