Seeking counsel on itinerary adjustments due to typhoon forecasts

Hello there,

My arrival date in Hanoi is scheduled for September 30, with departure set for October 13. Originally, my route involved visiting Hanoi, Mu Cang Chai, Ninh Binh, Pu Luong, and concluding with a cruise in Lan Ha Bay, focusing on trekking and cycling activities. Given that Typhoon Ragasa is predicted to strike just before my arrival and Opong a week afterward, would it be wiser to shorten my time in the northern regions and take a domestic flight down south instead? I am a first-time visitor to Vietnam and have zero experience with typhoons, so I truly do not know what I should anticipate!

Thanks

Hi – We just returned yesterday from Ninh Binh/Hanoi/Halong Bay Trip. I am in contact with the owners. I do not advise travel just yet – but they are very efficient at cleaning up and you should be good in a few days. If I had to skip something it would be a Halong overnight cruise. You wait at a pick-up point for nearly an hour, than take a transfer boat to get to the ship – both ways. If you can visit Ninh Binh in 4-5 days and if you want to do Halong go to Cat Ba Island and use a day boat – skip the hassle and be safe on land in case a storm comes in,

I have heard today from the family in Nghe An province. Older brother-in-law warehouse has been flooded out again and the younger brother-in-law house, who lives about 5 miles away, no longer has a tiled roof. Pretty bad.

Hello! I have the same concerns as I will be arriving on October 6. What is the weather in Hanoi, Sapa and Ninh binh? I’m concerned if it’s raining continuously I will not be able to explore. Never experienced a typhoon so don’t know how bad the after math will be
