Quy Nhon and Phu Yen: is the central coast detour worth 3 days between Hoi An and Nha Trang?

Our route goes Hoi An to Nha Trang and everyone just flies or takes the night bus past the whole central coast. But Ky Co beach, Eo Gio, and those basalt columns at Ganh Da Dia in Phu Yen look amazing in photos, and I hear Quy Nhon still feels like Vietnam before mass tourism.

Is it worth stopping for 3 days, or is it one of those places where the photos oversell it? We would be coming in November, which I know is shoulder season rain-wise for that stretch of coast. How bad is it really?

Also practical stuff: is the bus or train better for Quy Nhon to Tuy Hoa? And are the seafood restaurants in Quy Nhon as good as people claim?

We stopped in Quy Nhon for 3 nights last year and it was one of our favourite places in Vietnam. Eo Gio at sunrise is amazing, and Ky Co beach is so clear, not many people. November can have rain, yes, but usually it is showers in the afternoon and warm the rest of the day. We ate seafood every night at the places near the square and it was so cheap.

Sounds great, thank you. How did you get from Quy Nhon down to Tuy Hoa? Is the train along the coast worth it or should we just take the bus?

We took the train from Dieu Tri station, it is slow, about 2.5 hours, but the views along the coast are really nice and it is cheap. The bus is faster, around 1.5 hours, and there are many every day. If you have the time I would say take the train once, it feels like part of the trip. Tuy Hoa itself is very quiet, one night is enough before you move on.
