Hello Everyone

We are a family of four (with two children aged 16 and 10) intending to visit Phu Quoc from India for six to seven days during the first or second week of May.

We require some advice to clarify a few questions before proceeding with our reservations.

  1. What are the typical weather conditions like during the early-to-mid May period?

    Hi – the rainy season runs from late May to November, during this time choose your hotel location wisely. Beaches on the west coast are very windy and the water is NOT cleat at all. In fact it can be very brown and choppy. If you go early May , then your on the edge of the season change and you should get some clear weather. The East Coast is protected during these months

      @Sam Thanks Sam

      You mean to say that sea condition of both east and west coast will be different during May month. east coast will have clear water whereas west coast water may be brown and choppy in may.

      How is it possible when there is only 20-30 odd kms distance between both the coast.

      please confirm on my understanding.

      thanks in advance.

        @JIgar_shah1982 Hi – yes, the water conditions are dramatically different on east coast compared to west coast during the rainy season. I was there 5 weeks ago in June and the whole of the west coast was a brown dirty and windy mess. The reason is The combination of strong southwest winds and open exposure to the Gulf of Thailand naturally leads to rougher waters on the west side. In comparison, the east coast is often sheltered by the island’s terrain and receives gentler, offshore breezes—making beaches like Bai Sao and Bai Khem notably smoother and more tranquil during the same period. During the dry season the west coast is calm and clear. Your going on the cusp of the season change so keep that in mind
