Ninh Binh in 2 days on a backpacker budget, realistic?

Trying to squeeze Ninh Binh into my Vietnam route without blowing the budget. I have 2 full days and I am staying in hostels, eating street food, the usual backpacker setup.

From what I can tell the big costs are Trang An boat ride and maybe renting a motorbike for a day. Is it doable to see the highlights in 2 days using just a bicycle? I am a decent cyclist but I do not want to be wrecked for the night bus to Hue after.

Also, Tam Coc vs Trang An, if I only pick one boat trip which one is actually better? Everyone online seems split.
