Mui Ne sand dunes at sunrise, jeep tour or just hire a driver?

We have one full day in Mui Ne and I really want to see the white sand dunes at sunrise. All the hotels push the standard jeep tour that leaves around 4:30 in the morning and hits the white dunes, red dunes and the fishing village in one loop.

Is the jeep tour actually worth it, or can we just hire a driver to take us to the white dunes for sunrise and do the rest ourselves later? I am not fussed about the fishing village at 6am, I mostly care about the dunes with good light and fewer people.

Also, is sunrise really that much better than sunset for the white dunes?

We booked the jeep through our hotel and paid about 500k for the two of us for the sunrise trip, white dunes plus red dunes and the fishing village. Friends we met flagged one down on the street for about the same, maybe a bit less after haggling. I would just ask your hotel first, the price difference is small and it is less hassle if something goes wrong.

We did the jeep tour and for sunrise it is worth it. They pick you up at 4:30 and you are on the white dunes before the crowds, the light is amazing for photos. The jeep ride itself is fun, bouncing over the sand. Bring a scarf though, the wind throws sand everywhere at that hour.

Good to hear. Did you book the jeep through your hotel or just flag one down on the street? I have seen prices all over the place.
