If you want to make day tours they only want to pickup at the French old quarter.
It is very far!
If you’re arriving late it would only take another 10 mins or so in a taxi to get into the Old Quarter, which would be much more convenient for the tourists spots.
Around 20 mins by grab motorbike taxi.
It’s at the far end of Tây Ho. If you want to stay by the lake instead of right in the centre I can recommend the Oakwood Residence. It’s a 20 min grab into the Old quarter. We’ve stayed there several times and will return.
It is definitely not ideal for a tourist visit to Hanoi.
Make life easier. Choose a hotel in the old quarter who has hotel taxi for 15$ .. they pick you up and life’s a breeze for a few bucks more at midnight.. i didn’t even have a dong on me, I payed the next morning
I like that area around the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel. There used to be some little restaurants and cafes right there at the entrance. But generally it’s too far away from things. If you can you might enjoy going completely around West Lake.
We arrived at midnight and it didn’t take long to get to our hotel in the Old Quarter where most of what you will probably visit is very close
Stay in the old quarter or near to it….I would rather stay in a lower grade hotel close to hoan kiem lake than miles away from it because you are going to waste time every day travelling to tourist attractions , it may be further to the airport but I would rather be closer to attractions every day……
