i’ll be staying in Vietnam for a month (Hanoi / HMC etc.. i was thinking of packing light and buying shirts / tanks etc there.. how are the sizes? if i am a L here in Canada what’s that = in Vietnam size?

You’ll find everything you need in Vietnam in sizes 2XL to 3XL. They have great T-shirts at very reasonable prices—honestly, they’re quite cheap. Just a heads-up: young people there don’t usually wear tank tops; it’s mostly older men. Also, it’s winter in the North right now, so you won’t really need them anyway.
They have all you need…
TBH I have been given clothes from 2XL to 5XL and all have fitted well and are the same size.
