Hope someone can help please. Have never used an eSIM before, going for 33 days, I want to be able to check on my elderly mum while I’m away and have her be able to ring me, is this something that I can get? Thanks in advance.

Use a wifi app like We Talk
Simify
We used Simify eSIM and family rang us through WhatsApp and messenger.
Holafly Asia package. Unlimited data and text. Good for many countries. About $2 a day.
I recommend use this app as I use for traveling
OpenPhone
Hi, take your passport into a viettel shop
It would be extremely expensive for her to call you on a Vietnamese number. I assume she does not use WhatsApp etc?
Make sure you get an eSIM with a phone number, data is ok if you only use WhatsApp which is better anyway but if it’s a phone call, you won’t receive with some like Airalo
We’ve been traveling for 6 weeks so far in Asia – started in Vietnam. Used SimCorner e-sim with data only. If your contacts are on WhatsApp, iMessage or Messenger no problems. Get all your banking, etc apps onto email for verification if think you’ll need that. It has worked well for us that way and most times seamless when we crossed borders. A couple of times we turned off our phones and back on again and that solved any connection issues we thought we might have. It is probably pricier than a regular SIM card, but for us it has been the best option. Vietnam uses WhatsApp extensively.
