Hi we are a family of 4 with 10 and 12 years old kids coming from USA. How much cash would be enough for two weeks? We are not planning to use our ATM card. Will use credit card as much as we can.

Most places I went to were cash only. I rarely used my credit card in 15 days traveling in Vietnam.
Without knowing your tastes or your itinerary intimately, nobody can really give you any sort of definitive answer. Attractions? Transport? Shopping? Happy to eat local cuisine or is it burgers and pizzas every day? Street food and non touristy restaurants are very cheap. Western food is comparatively expensive, on par with the US in many places. Also… Every time you tap your card you’ll be hit with a 3% to 5% fee so try and pay cash as often as possible. ATM/debit cards are actually a useful way to obtain cash, currency exchanges aren’t everywhere like they used to be, and if you go for a conveniently located exchange, you will probably get a very ordinary rate. A Charles Schwab account will apparently see any ATM fees refunded also. Bring at least some cash, use your ATM card as required, and if you do exchange cash, don’t exchange more than you need, not easy or cheap to buy those US dollars back. You will need somewhere between $10 and $400 per day, hope that helps.

Credit card only isn’t gonna happen outside big city life. For 2 weeks family of 4.. With a whole buncha spending in a city like Saigon, I’d say $1000 – 1500/week.
Some places would not accept credit cards and when they do there usually about 3-4% more charged on what you bought. Cash is the best. Bring new 100$ dollars bill. They will reject old ones or give lower exchange rates for any tears or any writing on the bill.

If you stick to credit card you will only stay at mid or higher end expensive places. You will miss so much on real food and drink. And in majority of places you will pay surcharge for using card making it unreasonable.
