Hi! Trying to plan a trip in Vietnam right now and we have seen people talk about a private 2 person train cabin for the journey from Hanoi to Saigon but we can’t find anywhere to book it.

Hi! Trying to plan a trip in Vietnam right now and we have seen people talk about a private 2 person train cabin for the journey from Hanoi to Saigon but we can’t find anywhere to book it. Is this actually an option? If so, how would we go about booking it? Also, if we each have 2 suitcases + a carry on would the train or a plane be a better option cost wise? Thanks in advance!! Edit: We’re looking for a train thats direct not like a tour between the two cities

The cost is the same, not so different. However, you can enjoy beautiful views along Vietnam when traveling by train. It is faster by plane.

Trains are a great way to travel for shorter trips. But Hanoi to Saigon is a really long trip by train. Also it would only be cheaper if you were in seats the whole way.

Lonely planet has information on the 2 berth carriages that are run by private companies and attached to the main train. I believe there’s two different companies that operate these.

You book 4 berths to get a cabin for 2. I book direct with Lotus Trains.

On the normal train its 4 or 6 berth, if you want to pay more than the cost of flying you can book the expensive add on carriage and get a 2 berth but really, why ?
