Hi looking to do a 10-12 day trip in June, flying into Hanoi maybe 3 days then to Hoi An for 7 days, travelled many years ago but have a couple questions if I may? What day trips or overnight train rides are recommended and can these be done from Hoi An or should we stay in Hanoi longer? Can we train fromHanoi to Danang? And would you go and do Sapa by overnight train or Halong Bay overnight if you were choosing? Also recommendations to stay at the beach, in Hoi An old town or in between? Thanks for your help!

7 days is a long time in Hoi An it’s beautiful but once you have done all the tourist things and chilled you maybe a little bored. If you want to be able to walk to everything then definitely stay in the old town. Maybe do 4 Hoi An and 2 in Danang .
