Hi I’m trying to plan our 15 night trip and struggling – there’s so much to see and do!

HiI’m trying to plan our 15 night trip and struggling – there’s so much to see and do! We are keen to mix authentic experiences with some relaxation time, so don’t want to be travelling long distances every couple of days.I think trying to cover North – South will be too much, although that was my initial plan. Therefore, I’m now trying to decide whether mid and South, or mid and North is better. Any highlights for North or South that are definitely “not to be missed” may help with the decision! I’d also love to book a cooking experience, preferably in a Vietnamese home, where we can go to the market to buy produce and then spend time with a family cooking a meal. Any recommendations also gratefully received. We are arriving in 3 weeks, so I need to make some decision!

It depends on what you want to do. We’ve gone from south to north & preferred the cooler north. At Tam coc sweet water bungalows (which were new and gorgeous) we took a cooking class with the family- we rode bikes to the market & then came home (they did the chopping) to make spring rolls & share dinner & stories, partially through Google translate. We also trekked with Sapa Trekking with Na & stayed overnight & helped make dinner- highlight for sure. We had great tours in cao bang & phong nha and have enjoyed hanoi.

I just returned from a fabulous experience with Gate 1 travel, starting in the South Vietnam and then flew North. Reasonable price for all that was included

I will be in Vietnam first week of April – 22nd and want to do the deeper cultural explorations. Only thing I’ve booked so far is a 3 day 2 night trip in Ba Tu Long Bay with Renea. Will decide soon if I keep that reservation or skip.

It is new year so do your visa now, I believe many govt. Offices are closed until start of March.

We have longer (4weeks) but still isn’t enough!! Our itinerary was dictated by weather….we flew into hcmc but went straight to VungTau on coast to acclimatise….very happy there although no one rates it.

We did north and central in 2 weeks. Hanoi, halong bay, ninh binh, hue and hoian in that order. We managed to fit a lot in but we also are holiday doers, like to get out and see everything and don’t spend days sitting by the pool.
