Hi everyone,My 19-year-old daughter and I are planning a mother/daughter trip to Vietnam in May and would love some advice from those who’ve been there. Our #1 priority is safety. It will just be the two of us, so we’re looking for areas that feel very safe, easy to walk around, and simple to grab a Grab/Uber to attractions. Our vibe: • Beach time (my daughter’s request!) • A nice hotel to relax in if it’s too hot — great pool, comfy rooms, and a good breakfast/buffet are a plus • We are big foodies and want amazing local restaurants nearby • Close to shopping and main tourist spotsHere are the hotels we’re currently considering. I’d really appreciate honest reviews or feedback (good or bad):Da Nang: • TMS Hotel • Sala Danang Beach Hotel • Haian Beach Hotel & Spa • Monarque HotelHoi An: • Hadana Boutique HotelHanoi: • La Nueva Boutique HotelIf you’ve stayed at any of these, which would you choose for a safe and convenient mother/daughter trip? Also, if you’ve traveled in May, I’d love any tips about weather, heat, or anything we should plan for.Thank you so much — I truly appreciate your advice!

We stayed at Sofiana Mi Khe which is very close to TMS hotel. It’s a great location a few minutes walk away from the beach and lots of restaurants nearby or just a short, cheap Grab ride away. Sofiana was beautiful and clean, with a turn down service in the evening leaving sweet treats and extra water, great happy hour but only a very small rooftop pool. We felt very safe. Breakfast buffet was not the best we had in Vietnam but good enough. Teens loved beach proximity
We r from the uk and just stayed at the HAIAN good hotel good location etc
La Nueva is great and Jenny their can organise tours she was amazing, palm garden resort
Hoi An, hadana was amazing! We loved it, spent 8 nights, was the best breakfast we had in Vietnam 🤣 the rooms were a good size, we had 2 rooms one double and one twin. The pool got busy at peak time (morning-lunch) but could still drop a towel and swim. We walked to old town and the water most days and took an electric buggy to the beach (10ish minutes) from memory. Was very safe. Myself, husband young child and my mother all did the walks. Or if we were tired we got in a grab for a few dollars.
Hoi An is the most tourist friendly but expensive. I love Nha Tran for beach and scenery. Hanoi doesn’t have any beach at all if that’s a want. Da nang is cool but you would have to go to sunland, theme park, which is pretty cool but not sure for a mother / daughter trip.
Just got back from my trip end of January. We stayed 4 nights in Sala Beach. I liked the cleanliness of our room and the hotel, the cleaning service 2 x per day, afternoon tea, the rooftop pool is rather small but nobody really swam in it. The hotel staff were courteous. It’s a 5 minute walk from the beach and not directly across from the beach. We booked a room that came with access to premium lounge, so we only ate breakfast there. The food was good. The downside to my room was after much research, I thought it came with a shower too. Sadly it was only a tub. We aren’t ppl who like to soak in a bathtub, so I disliked that. The rooftop view at night is spectacular. Here’s a photo of the pool. Also, directly across the street is a coffee shop. Best salted coffee I had, sadly I didnt have time to try the coconut coffee. There’s also a convenience store directly across from the hotel. For laundry, we walked in the short alley next to the hotel and dropped it off there. Superb laundry service.
I can honestly say as a 54 year old widowed solo traveller, having done Thailand and Vietnam so far, I feel safer here than I do in London!
Almost forgot… La Nueva has a great rooftop bar. Happy hour for cocktails.. 2 for about £5! And they were good too!!! ☺️
Don’t miss Tam Coc in Ninh Binh! We stayed at the Wonderland Bungalows. Close enough to town to walk, or ride one of their free bikes. Far enough away that its peaceful and quiet. Rooms are fantastic, family run staff are helpful and very friendly. While there, do boat tour #3 in Trang An.
I stayed is Haian beach hotel and spa in DaNang for my honeymoon in 2022 and it was sooo beautiful. Right across the beach. Right next to the entrance of the hotel, is a raggedy shack. That lady washes clothes for 70% less than the hotel charges and she will have it dried and folded for you by the end of the day. I also have a really nice taxi drivers number who took us around the entire time in Danang. I just had to call him. Do you speak viet a bit? I have a bunch of reviews in Danang on Google.
