Hi everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with Booking in Vietnam.

Hi everyone,I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with Booking in Vietnam.I have a confirmed reservation that I booked a long time ago at a very good price, and now the hotel has messaged me asking me to cancel the reservation myself, saying they will be closed due to lack of cleaning staff because of the Tet holidays. The thing is, I’ve checked and the hotel is still available and still selling rooms for the same dates, but now at much higher prices. It honestly feels like they’re trying to get rid of my old, cheaper booking so they can resell it at a higher rate.Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do???Any advice or shared experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks 🙏

I had something similar happen. They WhatsApp’d me asking me to cancel saying it was because of Tet. I did not want to cancel. Nor did I want to change my dates and why would it not be available if I was able to book it?

Do not communicate through WhatsApp. All communication should come through the Booking Platform.

Happens regularly. If they can sell rooms at higher prices they dump previous bookings

Ad it happen to me when it was the reunification anniversary last year. Said my payment (which was on arrival)wasn’t valid. Got a Vn friend to call them because I vas getting no response. They canceled then offered the room back at 3x the price. We just stayed longer where we were.

Yes you are right about your assumption. That happened to me on one New Years Eve, when they could get a much higher price with walk-ins.

Don’t cancel. It’s there problem. You are confirmed. They have to take you

I would ignore that request. If they have to cancel because they’re closed, thats on them.

The exact same thing happened to us ,I did the cancellation as they said they had to do renovations ,We confronted the desk staff as the manager was too gutless to meet us after repeated whatsapp messages saying it was under repair .The hotel was open and vacancies sign was out ,the whole month we were in hoian.
