Hi All,My fiancé and I are looking to travel to Northern Vietnam in late April/May 2027. He has never been out of the United States. We are leaning more towards “adventure” with a little bit of relaxing. We got engaged on a 10 mile hike in Glacier National Park! We have about 10-14 days max to include travel time from the United States. He does not seem very keen on doing the Ha Giang loop and being on the back of a motorbike for multiple days. Would this be a huge miss for us to not experience? I put together a very rough itinerary below and would love feedback! Hanoi : 25-30 hour flight (3 days)Train streetObama bun cha (food recommendation from friend)Sapa: 3 days Fanispan (mountain and rice patties) Cat cat village (waterfalls, rivers, live music)Viettrekking Sapa Hotel? Pool overlooking townHalong Bay: 3 days Cat Ba Island Quan Lan BeachKayak in Luon CavesFly from Halong to Da Nang Da Nang/Hoi An: 3 days Golden Hand bridge Cho dem son night marketCoconut boats

I wouldn’t want to tell you anywhere to skip because everybody is different in what they are looking for. The north is beautiful . I would just suggest you research all the places you are interested in and whittle it down to no more than 3. Chat GPT or similar is a great assistant!
Should add 2 days in Ninh Bình which is closed to Ha long bay
You can visit my account for the schedules of the trains at Train Street buddy ☺️
Personally I would skip Halong Bay, it is overrated! I would also recommend checking out Ninh Binh, at least 2 days. Don’t skip Sapa or Hoi An, both awesome.
1. Forget about Obama bun cha. It got worse since that day.
I went to Ha Long Bay for one day, not even overnight. I felt like it was plenty.
Thats amazing plans to see the main places in Vietnam but would be tired and moving a lot if each spot only 3 days.
We spent four nights recently in Sapa and we’re literally in the cloud for four days and couldn’t see up the street. The last day we were there the fog cleared and we were able to go to Fansipan and Cat Cat Village but had no time for the glass bridge or anything else so don’t count on the weather.
Nice ring…leave it at home. Ha long doesn’t have an airport. You’ll need to go back to Hanoi. Cat cat is made for tourists. Head to other villages for authentic experiences.
It’s better to swap Sapa to Ha Giang.
