HI all, I’m working on a plan to visit south Vietnam for about a week. I want to visit local sights, villages, starting with HCMC. Tentative plan looks like:HCMC for 3 nightsbus to Can Tho for 2 nightsbus to Sa Dec for 2 nightsbus to Chau Doc for 1 night to catch the ferry to Phnom Penh. Any concerns about these destinations or getting to them via bus?

I’ve been checking reviews of the ferry to Phnom Penh and am less than enthusiastic about this part of the plan. My trepidation comes somewhat from my disastrous “scenic” train ride through Montenegro, billed as one of the best train experiences in Europe. I went through 11 hours of hot, crowded, smelly (bathrooms were already full of sewage water all over the floors from the beginning), no food (advertised as offering food for purchase), mostly tunnels & any scenery blocked by passengers crammed into the aisles sitting on their suitcases because tickets were sold way past capacity. I Never want a trip like that again.
All those places are solid and more local than touristy. Just allow buffer time as buses can be delayed. Vie Travel AI is helpful to map routes, compare transport (bus vs car), and find things to do in each town.
