Yes you can and as others have said Cover-More will insure you if you have an Australian motorcycle licence, the issue at the moment is the police are much more aware of the different IDP’s and may fine you if you are stopped, we have never been stopped in 20 years and and 13 visits, the work around is to hire a 50cc or electric scooter, no licence needed.
Australian can’t legally ride a scooter in Vietnam unless they live in Vietnam 🇻🇳 and get a Vietnam license
