Driving LicenceHi All, what do I need to drive a motorbike from Australia? I’ve heard that I need a VI licence or something like that? If you could please advice that’d be great.

There are so many different interpretations of the rule here. I don’t think you can ride legally with an Australian motorbike license even if you have an international driving permit,  saying that, it depends who picks you up. I was pulled over for not having a motorbike license and fined 1 million dong and told to ride my bike home. They just stick the money in their pocket. I tried getting a motorbike license in Vietnam but you have to be a temporary resident. They may let you go or they may just fine you 1 million dong and stick it in their pocket. I think most of the time if you have a driving permit they might let you go. I ride a 50CC and apparently you don’t need a license for that.,
You are NOT allowed Period! If you want to do a motorbike trip with a proper group they will look after you. Australia is not a signatory of the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, which means it is not possible to ride fully legally with an Australian license alone. While converting your license into a temporary Vietnamese license is an option, the procedure is complicated and time-consuming.
You can’t drive a bike from Aust. To Vietnam. Too much water between!!
I wouldn’t worry. If you have an Australian licence and can drive, you can find insurance to cover you still.
You need to get a Viet licence.
Have to have a work permit or long stay permit to be allowed to get a Viet Bike Licence.
To legally ride a motorbike over 50cc in Vietnam, you must possess a valid motorcycle license from your home country, accompanied by a 1968 International Driving Permit under 50cc no licence required. Also I wouldn’t they drive on the right side of the road.
You can’t legally ride on an Australian license.
What if you have an Australian motorbike licence? Is it still not legal?
It is not possible to drive/ride legally in Vietnam if you are an Australian licence holder. And please don’t try. If you are asking this question, then it’s your first time visiting and that means you have no idea of the holy hell that is Vietnam traffic. You will not be insured and you will probably kill yourself or someone else if you do. Yes, I have a bike, yes I have ridden for years in VN (back in the day). Would I do it now? No way.
