My thoughts on Nha Trang I’m just leaving Nha Trang after 4 days here. 4 weeks in Vietnam. I’ve loved every bit, except for Nha Trang. It’s full of Russians, the signs are often in Russian.I never had a thing about Russians before this, but by golly, I’ve been bruised by them on the street, as they just push past you, no manners in giving (even a fraction), when pushing past you on the footpath. I’ve heard them abuse the locals way too often. It’s not nice here anymore. I came to Nha Trang 16 years ago and really enjoyed myself. This time, I actually ended up avoiding going out, because the vibe isn’t great.Maybe I was in the wrong part of Nha Trang, but I am so happy to be leaving and I won’t be coming back. Has anyone else had a similar experience here, or is it just me?I did meet a couple of nice ones, but the majority just treated others like we are in their way, like servants and the manners were non existent that I saw, in general.

Yap, that’s what totally ruined our experience as well! The rest was great, but this part… you just can’t ignore it.
Not in Na Trang but Hoi An, I was taking a sick friend (suspected food poisoning) back to our hotel. Pushing, shoving, angry vocals because we were not moving out of their way on the rainy pavement!!

We had considered Nha Trang as a place to retire. We spent 5 days there in January and decided it was not a fit for us

That’s such a shame. Sounds like Russians seem to have not changed all these years since I was growing up in VN in the 80s. Because of Russia close communist ties with VN, Russians were always present. Even though we didn’t see many of them or often, they were not friendly, stuck up, and look down on Vietnamese. I thought all these years they’d have some introspection or have become more self-aware through the media, but apparently not.
Was at the immigration line at the airport and two Russian women in front of me were acting all loud and trying to cut in front of others in line being jerks. Everyone else in airport was acting normal
We loved Nha Trang! Lots of Russians, a couple were nice, and we didn’t really focus on the rest, we just enjoyed the great food, laid back culture and friendly locals.
I spent a week there and saw the same thing although I’m not a little guy and had no issues with them. Then a few days ago I was talking with a Vietnamese man from Nha Trang. It’s his hometown but he said to many Russians there, fat Russians. I busted up laughing because I had the exact same thought he did. It could be many younger Russians are hiding out from conscription for the Ukraine war.
Horrible. The worst place I visited in three months in Vietnam. In total agreement about the Russians. They ruin it. I witnessed it also, speaking down to the locals and being generally aggressive. Awful tourists.
