When putting money on your Wise card is it best to convert it to dong and what is the advantage? Do I have to convert the full balance or can I convert part of it? I’m sorry I’m a little confused with it all.

It’s handy to be able to have a card for bigger expenses and even link to Grab dor taxis. You can exchange when the ratés good but most places charge 3-7% per transaction so to be honest it’s swings and roundabouts. However sting that wise and revoluts exchange is lower than the cash exchange rates I was offered a few days ago which is very rare
You don’t have to convert the whole lot to dong. I put 400 aud in then watched and waited till it reached a high conversion then changed 300 to dong I get the highest conversion for the last 30 days ……. Winner 😂
Im from the UK. I upload pounds then ATM dose the covert it. I found it not matter what way you still pay the same.
You can transfer your home currency to wise if you hold it in that currency for no fee – you can change part or all into another currency – when you pay for something in Dong they will convert it at the time at the current rate for a small fee – if the exchange rate at any time is high you can change any amount at any time and hold it in Dong and use it as required.
You can keep in original currency and wise will convert as you use it. The only advantage of changing before is if you feel the exchange rate is high and will go down
You can convert however much you want by adding to your dong account. Advantage is only if the rate is high getting that rate when you convert.
For everyone using the Wise card I got one but haven’t used it yet. Is it easy to find places in Vietnam that accept it?
What is a wise card and where do I get one. Flying to Vietnam in a couple of hours.
Add your wise card to Grab app and use it to pay for everything in Grab that way you don’t need to link your personal card
WISE charges a small conversion fee each time if you only have your home currency on the card. Example: if you use the card 30 times X $2 each time, your fees will be $60. However, if you convert USD1000 to VND in one transaction, the fee is only say $6. So, you save a lot. The conversion is instant, so if you need more VND, you convert another USD500 or the amount you think you are going to spend.
