Hi everyone,I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar with Booking in Vietnam.I have a confirmed reservation that I booked a long time ago at a very good price, and now the hotel has messaged me asking me to cancel the reservation myself, saying they will be closed due to lack of cleaning staff because of the Tet holidays. The thing is, I’ve checked and the hotel is still available and still selling rooms for the same dates, but now at much higher prices. It honestly feels like they’re trying to get rid of my old, cheaper booking so they can resell it at a higher rate.Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do???Any advice or shared experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks 🙏

I got to my Villa in Hoi an, and found out it had been sold. They didn’t notify me and thought they would keep the deposit. Booked through ‘Stays’.
This is totally normal. Dynamic pricing. They can make more money on the room because of increased booking interest. Just book something else.
The trouble is, if you cancel and try to book somewhere with such short notice(1 WEEK AWAY), you will be paying a fortune and you would also be very limited with choice.. I’d keep it
Please contact customer service from online travel agent. They can help you.
Tell them you’re ok not to have the room serviced daily
Check it’s definitely from them as we got messages without info on asking us to pay via a link or the room will be cancelled or another saying they are cancelling our room if we don’t reply to a message if we want airport pick up. The messages came from a different source and when I looked into it it was an Indian number in both occasions for different hotels
It’s good they let you know before hand, my stay in Da Nang which I booked months in advance and found out the day I arrived
Common issue with booking properties (ESPECIALLY apartments) through Booking dot com etc. DO NOT CANCEL!!! Get them to cancel so you can access Customer support and get them to find you a new place. (If you are Genius III – that’s priority customer support) They will find you a new option and pay the difference. I’ve had to do this twice here in HCMC and once in Australia. It’s a pain in the butt – but if you stay persistent and patient your should get a result.
Ok, apparently they are not closed, it was only a lie to force me to cancel my Booking, the real reason is because he wants to resell the room
it may not be that… I’ve found most businesses here fairly reliable – I’m in Vietnam now for a few months and here over TET. Their TET ( New year) is similar to Christmas in Canada, Europe etc or Thanksgiving in the USA or Easter … x10 -it’s the most important holiday of the year ..Everything shuts down about 5 days. Everyone takes time off, goes home to their families and IF they are working get paid 3x regular wages so hotel is being honest I think. They may be open but will be short staffed especially cleaners and don’t want to give a bad experience. Vietnam I find is very concerned about customer service and customer satisfaction more than any other place I have ever travelled. Bring extra cash as banks close so ATMs run out of money. Many restaurants close 16th-22nd. Stores and markets close. We are told by our host to stock up on groceries, cash, medicine etc. also to expect to pay triple what’s usually charged for grab, taxi and any places who stay open as they have to pay staff triple time. Celebrations and parties and fireworks have already started. It’s a very big deal.
