Scams and safety tips for solo female travelers?

Hi all, I’m planning my first solo trip to Vietnam and I’m a bit nervous about scams, especially in big cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. I’ve read some stories online, but would love to hear from people who have been there. Any advice on what to watch out for, how to get around safely, and any general tips for a solo female traveler?

Hi Sarah, great question! It’s smart to be prepared, but don’t let it scare you. Vietnam is generally a safe country. The most common scams involve overcharging for taxis or goods. Always use a ride-hailing app like Grab for taxis or motorbikes to avoid this. Be polite but firm with street vendors if you’re not interested.
