The people here don’t let you enter, push you around like you are objects, scream and shout at you if you take more than a minute to order and abuse you in Vietnamese. Absolutely not worth it for a picture or even the experience. I have never been made to feel so humiliated in any other part of Vietnam. As a tourist, I didn’t feel safe and it really ruined my view of Vietnam.

Heady experience on March 9, 2025 (after the passage was suspended to caution unruly tourists). We sat down at the bar sipping the delicious Vietnamese egg coffee, after half an hour they tell us to get up and close the chairs and lean against the wall, we thrilled we did it holding cell phones in hand so we filmed from 20 cm. away the train passage, exciting unforgettable experience!

We arrived at Train street on a Tuesday mid afternoon, and got a great spot at a little cafe – all was going well and although it was super cramped and busy that’s what we expected! We were excited to watch the train pass by when an obnoxiously loud police man came down the street 30 mins prior whistling and ordering all people off the street and inside cafes. The tables were folded up in front of us and the cafe staff took our overpriced drinks from our hands which we’d already paid for and were unfinished, and ordered us out of the train street all together as they had no room inside their cafe! They practically pushed us all the way down the street to the very end of the barrier with the whistling man behind us!!! It was the most chaotic and unpleasant experience I’ve ever had.

There was no explanation from anyone at any time and everyone was just unpleasant.

I really wouldn’t waste your time visting.

What an experience. It was one thing that I wanted to do when in Hanoi and I was not disappointed. All is well organised by the homeowners/ bar owners. Safety is of paramount, do not try to do funny thing when a train is speeding down at you. It was a great experience, not to be missed.
