What we as Europeans cannot imagine is being exploited here as a tourist attraction. A trien that drives through an old residential area. You are standing here at 20 centimeters from a moving train. (of course it has adjusted its speed to +- 15 km/h. La,gs both sides are catering establishments where you can have a nice drink while waiting for the arrival (eg Eggs coffee)
Just a short drive from Hanoi railway station, there are cafes lined up along the railway tracks, where you can enjoy trains passing straight through. In Thailand it was open-air, but this is a cafe. If you want to see the train, you should check the timetable as there are only a few trains.
