I hear you get a better price booking your Ha Long Bay/Lan Ha Bay cruise through a local agent than direct with the cruise company. Is this correct and can anyone recommend a local or online company they have used. Thanks!

I booked through Agoda. I know other similar companies do the cruises too.
We booked through Get Your Guide initially, it cost £550 for 2 nights (including £100 worth of taxes when we got there). In Hanoi we randomly decided to go into a booking office to see if they could do any better deals – they managed to bring it down to £450 total and upgrade to Dora cruise which was amazing. It also included a VIP return transfer from Hanoi. I think we could’ve got the price down further if we haggled.
We booked direct. A few places on here that were recommended gave us quotes and they were dearer than booking direct. And we only had to pay a small deposit by booking direct and pay the rest on the day.
Hoa Ta looked after a fantastic 3day 2 night cruise for us and she was amazing.
