Phong Nha caves with a toddler, is Paradise Cave doable with a carrier or best skipped?

We will be in Phong Nha for two days in January with our 2 year old, and Paradise Cave is the one I really want to see. I have read about a long wooden walkway inside the cave, which sounds carrier friendly, but I am not sure about the walk to the entrance and the steps.

Has anyone done Paradise Cave with a toddler in a carrier? How long is the walk in total, and is it hot and humid inside even in January? Our little one is happy in the carrier for about an hour, but after that she gets restless.

If Paradise Cave is too much with a toddler, is there a shorter cave or a river trip in Phong Nha that works better for small kids? I do not want to skip the caves entirely, but I also do not want to drag a tired toddler through a two hour walk.

We did Paradise Cave with our daughter in a carrier when she was just over two, and it worked better than I expected. The walkway inside is boardwalk the whole way, so there is no scrambling, and it is cool and sheltered even when it is hot outside. The walk to the entrance has steps, but we took them slowly and it was fine, the whole visit took a bit over an hour.

That is reassuring, thank you. How many steps are we talking about to the entrance, and is there anything at all for a stroller, or is the carrier the only option? If Paradise Cave turns out too much on the day, is there a shorter cave nearby worth doing instead?

The steps felt like a few hundred, but they are wide with places to pause, and we just took a break halfway with a drink. A stroller would not work, the carrier is really the way to go. If you want a shorter option, the Phong Nha Cave boat trip is much less walking, you ride the boat right in, and our daughter loved watching the bats on the ceiling. We did Paradise in the morning and the boat cave the next day, and that split worked perfectly.
