We are planning 5 days on Phu Quoc in December with a 4 year old and a 7 year old. I keep reading that the north is quieter and the south has the cable car and the safari park, but I cannot figure out where families actually base themselves.
Is it better to stay in one place the whole time, or split north and south? With kids and luggage, moving hotels mid trip sounds like a hassle, but I also do not want to spend every day in a taxi crossing the island.
Any specific family friendly beaches where the water is calm in December and there are a few restaurants within walking distance? We do not need luxury, just clean, calm, and not a party strip.

We did Phu Quoc with kids in December and stayed in the south, near Long Beach, and it worked really well. The water was calm, there were restaurants in walking distance, and the cable car and safari were easy day trips. The north is quieter, but with kids we found the south much more practical, and moving hotels mid trip would have been a hassle we were glad to skip.

That is exactly the tradeoff I was stuck on, thanks. In the south, did you find a beach that was calm and not too party focused? I keep seeing Long Beach mentioned but I worry parts of it are noisy at night.

We stayed on the quieter southern end of Long Beach, away from the main bar strip, and at night it was calm. The busy part is closer to Duong Dong town, so if you stay a bit south you get the calm water without the noise. Our kids swam every afternoon and we walked to dinner, no taxi needed most nights.
