All the famous Tam Coc photos show bright green rice paddies along the river, and that is honestly half the reason I want to go. But we are traveling in mid November and I have a feeling those green-field photos are all from spring and summer.
Is November a bad time for the scenery there, or is it still pretty? I would rather adjust my expectations now than show up disappointed. Would Trang An be a better pick in November?

We were there in November two years ago and the fields were mostly harvested, so yes, adjust expectations. The karst scenery is still beautiful though, and there are far fewer boats than in spring. Trang An is greener in November because of the jungle, so that might be the better pick for you.

Good to know, thank you. Is Trang An much more expensive than Tam Coc? I heard the boat ticket went up.

Trang An was 250k per person when we went, Tam Coc around 200k. Not a huge difference, so I would pick based on the scenery you want, not the price. Trang An felt more jungly, Tam Coc more open with the rice fields.
