Need to extend my tourist visa by 30 days and I am in Ho Chi Minh City for another week. Getting quotes all over the place, from 1.2 million to 3.5 million dong, and every agent promises five to seven working days.
Who did you actually use, and what did you really pay in the end, not the quote but the final number? Also, did anyone do the Moc Bai border run instead? Wondering if that is simpler than dealing with agents.

I used an agent in District 1 last year, cost about 80 dollars for a 30-day extension and took 5 working days. They kept my passport the whole time, which was nerve wracking but normal. Avoid the cheapest offers, some are scams.

Five working days without a passport sounds stressful. Did you get any receipt or paperwork while they had it?

Yes, they gave me a stamped receipt and a copy of my passport. I carried the copy around and nobody bothered me. Just make sure you start the process at least a week before your visa runs out.
