Flights to Phu Quoc in July are suspiciously cheap and now I know why. Rainy season.
But how bad is it really? Is it the kind where it dumps for an hour in the afternoon and then it is gorgeous again, or is it grey and miserable for days on end?
Mainly want beach time and maybe a snorkeling trip. If the sea is churned up and the boat trips get cancelled all week, I would rather know now and look elsewhere. Hoi An is also rainy season in July though, so it is not like the alternative is safer.
Has anyone done Phu Quoc in July and loved it? Or is this one of those ideas that sounds clever until you are stuck in your hotel watching rain?

Snorkeling is the gamble. Our boat trip to the An Thoi islands got cancelled two days out of five because of swell. If that is the main reason you are going, July is risky. Beach and food and the cable car were all great though, and everything was half the price of high season.

Replying to Kane Charlton @Kane Charlton The cancelled boat trips are the part that stings. Was that the south islands trip? Wondering if the north side stays calmer or if it is the same story everywhere in July.

Replying to averageaussie39 @averageaussie39 The north side was calmer for us. We did a half day snorkeling trip out of the Ong Lang area and the water was fine, decent visibility. The An Thoi islands in the south are the ones that cop the swell in July, that is where our cancellations were. If snorkeling is the priority I would base yourself north.
We went last July and I would do it again. It rained most afternoons around 3 or 4, hard for an hour, then it cleared. Mornings were gorgeous. The west coast stays calmer, we swam every day. Just book a hotel with a good pool for the rainy afternoons and you are fine.
