Okay so I keep reading that cao lau is the one dish you can only get properly in Hoi An, something about the noodles being made with water from one specific well. Sounds like marketing but I am curious enough to try it properly.
I will be in Hoi An for three nights next month. Which spot do people actually rate for cao lau? Not looking for the fanciest place, just somewhere the noodles are fresh and the broth is right. And what is a normal price so I do not get the tourist menu?
Also, is it a lunch dish or do places serve it in the evening too? I do not want to show up at 8pm and get laughed at.
