We are in our last few days in Ho Chi Minh City (family of four, kids 9 and 12, they survived the trip and now refuse to drink hot chocolate at home because nothing compares, lol) and I need to stock up on coffee beans before we fly out.
My dad is a proper coffee nerd and I want to bring him robusta, whole bean, something with an actual roast date on it. Not the tourist gift packs with the weasel on them. Are the supermarkets here fine or should I go to a specialty roaster? Any names you trust in District 1 or 3?
Also, whole bean vs ground: we have a drip machine at home, no grinder. Is pre-ground from a good roaster still decent after the flight home, or should I just buy the grinder too and commit to the lifestyle?
